R&D Engineer – Sensor & Signal Processing
About Eddytec
We are a young ambitious hardware startup revolutionising non-destructive testing (NDT) using advanced eddy current technologies. Our mission is to make testing of carbon fibre composites fast and simple, enabling industries such as aerospace, energy, med tech, and others to further adopt these high-performance materials and achieve their sustainability goals while saving cost.
The role of R&D Engineer
We are looking for an R&D Engineer with a sensor development or physics background. As part of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in successfully developing and delivering commercially ready non-destructive testing solutions for carbon fibre composites - consisting of hardware, electronics and software components. You will play a key role in development of hardware and signal processing that take our sensing solutions to the next level.
As an ideal candidate, you have built a strong technical career in a startup or R&D environment. You are known for your technical prowess, attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to find solutions to hard problems.
How you'll make an impact:
Actively contributing to the development of innovative non-destructive testing prototypes.
Developing and testing procedures for our in-house measurement equipment using Python.
Designing experiments and executing with care and precision to test technology configurations and various specimen.
Analysing scans and capturing results, then bringing your findings to the team to tackle challenging problems as a team.
Developing methods and signal processing algorithms in Python.
Mentoring junior team members and interns and encouraging knowledge sharing.
Presenting regular updates in the engineering team meetings providing clear communication of project progress and results.
What makes you a good fit:
MSc in experimental physics or a related field, complemented by 4+ years of experience in R&D, a PhD is a plus.
Strong experience in measurement science, preferably with sensing and impedance measurements.
Hands-on experience in signal acquisition and processing.
Proficient in Python programming and in interfacing to hardware via standard interfaces (pyserial, and similar).
Experience in modelling and simulating physical systems.
A strong experimentalist with a maker attitude, comfortable with soldering, 3D design and printing, and simple machining.
PCB design experience is a plus.
Experience with (composite) material testing or manufacturing is a plus.
Please note, that you must have a valid working permit for the Netherlands.
